Was his rejection innocent?

My crush and I have been getting along really well but we haven seen each other in two days so I invited him to go to ice cream with a bunch of people. He sounded excited about it and then he texted 'so what's the plan Stan?' and I told him it was going to be me him and two other girls. He texted back saying he didn't want to ruin a girls night and to have fun and eat ice cream for him. Him not wanting to go wasn't a denial of being with me right...? It was more like he didn't want to be with all girls? What's your opinion??
