Am I the only one who sympathises with Nick Clegg?

Sold out his core voters. Canvassed on the grounds that his party would reduce tuition fees to 0, then went ahead and tripled them to 9000 with the coalition. It is true the Tories had the better hand and hence could dictate terms, however the Lib Dems heavily canvassed on the ground of tuition fees, they even went ahead and signed pledges saying they wouldn't increase tuition fees, then to go ahead and support the Tories tripling fees is quite sick to be honest. Other option was not to join the coalition or form a coalition with the Labour Party and stick to their word. They didn't have to join the Tories, it was their own choice, they got a whiff of power and couldn't sell out their supporters fast enough.
